He expressed his joy over the position of the judges of the Supreme Court
to haul those who make unremarkable comments that can plunge the nation into
chaos.
The Methodist Bishop was preaching on the theme: “Each
one, Orders Keeper” on the second Sunday of July at the Wesley Methodist Church
in Sunyani.
Picking his text from Matthew 5:22 which reads “But I
tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment.
Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister,’Raca’, is answerable to the
court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell."
Stressing on the Bible reading, Rev. Asare Bediako
further mentioned that anyone who call his brother “Raca” meaning useless will
be punished by God. “Politicians who use these words against their opponents will
face hell fire”, he added.
He noted that foul language which has taken centre
stage in the Ghanaian politics can destroy the nation. He continued that Ghana
is for everyone therefore, Ghanaians should not sit down and watch politicians to
destroy it with the use of foul language because their tongue can plunge the
nation to war.
The Methodist Bishop warned Christians to be mindful
of the way they treat their neighbors and the children they stay with because
they will be judged according to the words they use on people.
Present at the church service were the Superintendent
Minister of Sunyani Wesley Methodist and Synod Secretary, Rev. Oswald Samuel
Boakye, deputy superintendent, Kwaku Adomako Acheampong, out-going Lay Movement
Chairman, Honourable Nathaniel Benjamin Nsenkyere and incoming lay chairman Mr.
Jackson Adiyiah, President of Brong Ahafo Branch of Ghana Bar Association,
William Oduro and Former Minister in the erstwhile Kufour Government, Honourable
Kwadwo Agyei-Darko.
